The combination of Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett showed the potential of being not just the best combination of tight ends in the National Football League, but the best combination of any offensive players in the National Football League - and Gronk didn't even score a touchdown on Sunday. His throws were crisp, particularly on a flawless spiral to Chris Hogan that gained 63 yards.

Chris Hogan caught four passes for 114 yards and Rob Gronkowski had five catches for 109 yards for New England. For a time, Brady was like a kid, playing with all his new toys.

As it turned out, Brady finished the summer having taken fewer game reps than both Garoppolo and Brissett. They also struggled moving the ball immensely, all contributing to the final discouraging result.

Gronkowski and Bennett merely combined for 11 catches for 176 yards.

JONES EJECTED - Patriots rookie cornerback Cyrus Jones was ejected from Sunday's game at Cleveland early in the third quarter for throwing a punch at Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins. Riddick's stock as a fantasy player went up and Washington was added to many rosters when Ameer Abdullah was hurt in Week 2.

As usual, the Browns struggled to cover tight ends, with Bennett catching the three TDs, including a 37-yarder, and being so open on his first TD catch that he walked right in like he was strolling through Central Park. Boomer Esiason of WFAN and CBS' The NFL Today joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich for his weekly call into the show on Monday, and said it was a little from column A and a little from column B. "The two defenders come to me and leave Marty in the red zone one-on-one".

Roger Goodell gave the other 31 teams a break, and they blew it.

"It's been a fun week to get ready to play and be back doing what I love to do".

"I guess one could say that (it's back to normal)", Slater said.

Jackson described the play of the Patriots as "what we are chasing", and acknowledged that the Browns "have a ways to go" in order to reach the level of consistency built by owner Robert Kraft, coach Bill Belichick and Brady over the last 17 years. "That's all of us - players, coaches, everybody". But I want to play for a long time, maybe 10 more years.

Roethlisberger completed 34 of 47 attempts for 380 yards without an interception, hitting 14 straight passes in the second half as the Steelers erased a 13-7 deficit. It was classic Gronk. "I could do better in a lot of areas".

Brady returned from his four-game suspension leading the Pats to a 33-13 road win over Cleveland Sunday. This was the first real look at the prolific tandem.

On a day where the focus nationally was on the visiting quarterback, Tom Brady making his season debut at FirstEnergy Stadium, the home quarterback made headlines and not in a good way.

In Brady's absence, the quarterback who got the most preseason snaps performed well. There's a lot of weapons on this team. "Every week I feel pretty good", Brady said, via Adam Kurkjian of the Boston Herald. "The offense looked good today". Gronkowski, asked if he thought Brady had seemed at all out of sync, volleyed the question back at the reporter.

Said Bennett: "It was fun to have him out there". We were fired up.

The defense let us just 13 points and only one touchdown.
