A number of sources in Apple's Asia-based supply chain have been leaking details about what to expect for the "iPhone 8" line this year.

In note experts Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company sees a "feature-rich launch" of three new iPhone models in late 2017, featured by what he refers to as iPhone X. One example is the Xiaomi Mi Mix, which is probably one of the first devices to sport a true edge to edge display. The report claims that the new iPhone may have a wraparound 5.8-inch OLED screen.

The latest leak about iPhone 8 wireless charging feature also adds weight to rumors about this year's iPhone having glass back, considering brands haven't evolved a technique to wireless charging through metal.

This cryptic name has got everyone excited and analysts think that the iPhone X may merely be a replacement of the impending iPhone 8. Arcuri thinks that Apple might move to Synaptic's optical fingerprint sensor to make that happen.

While all of these are still considered as only rumors and Apple has yet to confirm any of them, we can't help ourselves from getting enthusiastic about the upcoming iPhone 8. It also has a fast-charging battery, an iOS 10.02 operating system that is upgradable to 11.0, and an A-11 processor. It is expected to cost $750.

Arcuri, in his note, mentions that Apple is expected to debut the usual upgrades to their lineup in the form of iPhone 7s.

The iPhone 8 is pegged to feature a facial recognition software as an additional security feature for the smartphone.

According to a report published earlier this week in DigiTimes, several Chinese smartphone manufacturers - including Oppo, Vivo, and Huawei, for example - have just recently climbed the charts and secured the remaining three positions in the top five global smartphone vendors, by volume. In addition, a recent patent application suggests that the Apple Pencil could find itself joined into one or more iPhone 8 models. The screen size of iPhone 8 is the 5.8-inch model to feature an OLED display with an "active screen area" of between 5.1 and 5.2 inches.

The iPhone 8 will also reportedly feature motion controls which will allow the user to access a host of different applications using motion gestures.

Apple has been following the same naming conventions since its iPhone 4. Apple has not responded to rumours and will remain silent till the annual product event scheduled in September 2017.
