The Giannis-less run that killed the Raptors in Game 1

Every year for the last five years, Thompson has expended the team's No. 1 draft pick on a defensive player.

The encouraging thing from the Bucks' standpoint is that they went 14-4 in March and were 21-15 overall after their most recent loss to Toronto on January 27.

The Raptors kept it close in the first half.

And while it may not have been a home game, the Leafs emerged victorious - beating out the Capitals 4-3 in the second overtime period against the team that bested them 3-2 in their last matchup on Thursday.

And the Bucks' next best player?

"It sounds like a yearly song we sing but we're going to go as (Lowry) and DeMar (DeRozan) go and he's got to be aggressive no matter what the defense is doing", Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. "I think a thousand of his shot attempts have been layups. but he's also deadly distributing the ball and getting others involved". Giannis will likely win the Most Improved Player of the Year Award and has solidified himself as one of the best players in the league. Toronto shot 7 for 35 in the second half, following up a 3 for 18 showing in the third by going 4 for 17 in the fourth. And why Toronto shooters continued to pass up open looks is beyond me. "I've just been so focused on trying to figure out Milwaukee and what we need to do to win this series".

Prediction: The Raptors' offense usually freezes in the playoffs, but they're good enough to see-off the one-man team the Bucks have become this season. I thought they played harder, longer than we did. After all, the Raptors lost Game 1s against the Pacers and Heat in the 2016 postseason before coming back to win both series in seven games.

Early fouls that took away any opportunity to develop a rhythm would plague Lowry, awkward heaves that had no shot of dropping, too cavalier and approach when it was Lowry's job, his duty, to lead. Look for Lowry to have a much better effort and for them to get more production from their bench.

We finally saw what Milwaukee Bucks fans (and, honestly, most NBA fans) have wanted to see for several years - Giannis Antetokounmpo in playoff basketball.

The Bucks do have something to take into the opener of the best-of-seven series at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday. "(DeRozan) drives to the basket or (Lowry) drives to the basket and now it's five on four or one on two or three. The "Greek Freak" is already in his fourth season at the age of 22. Defenses can collapse even tighter in the paint, and DeRozan cramps the Raptors' spacing because he is a complete non-factor from three. Not to say the All-Star guard has fallen far from the mark set previous year, but it was an exceptional campaign that is hard to rival. Now, they'd like to advance past the first round for the first time since going to the conference finals in 2001 with Ray Allen and Glenn Robinson leading the way. Our philosophy here from Day 1 is never to go to the offensive boards. "Once you get going, your vehicle feels like a 2016 Lexus or something".

INJURY UPDATE: Serge Ibaka did not practice Monday because of a sprained left ankle, suffered when he stepped on Antetokounmpo's foot in the third quarter Saturday.

Antetokounmpo's emergence is a big reason why the Bucks are back in the postseason for the second time in three seasons.

Casey commented on the hard screens set by Milwaukee.
