Is Harry Styles' new song 'Two Ghosts' about Taylor Swift?

The 23-year-old singer is on Nick Grimshaw's BBC Radio 1 show this morning, where he's been grilled on the meaning of the song.

"I used to research dates, then I said I'm not going to do that anymore, it's impossible to go in without a perception of someone and you've never met them and I started feeling like that was wrong and weird", Styles revealed.

After being pressed by Grimshaw, the embarrassed One Direction singer squirmed and turned to his manager Jeff Azoff for a lifeline, pleading, "Help me, Jeffrey!"

In a Rolling Stone interview published in April, Styles also said that "Sign of the Times" channels the perspective of a woman who has given birth, but is told she won't survive the pregnancy.

Still, the British heartthrob isn't dishing out specifics for ANY of his songs.

Giving little away, Harry responded "Errr, yeah" before the radio host continued: 'And are they from Carolina, I'm guessing?'

Is that confirmation that the song is ode to a former lover? Finally the album Harry Styles concludes on "From The Dining Table", a relatively quiet title that begins with the evocation of a masturbation and where the voice of the singer is more sensual than usual. The same white shirt could point to Harry and his ensemble.

In the lead-up to today's release, Styles made his US performance debut as a solo artist on Saturday Night Live, sharing "Sign of the Times" and "Welcome To New York", his United Kingdom debut on The Graham Norton Show, and he's covered Rolling Stone Magazine with an incendiary profile written by rock journalism-turned-screenwriting legend Cameron Crowe.

The classic rock-inspired record has already won praise from critics, who have described it as "eclectic" and "intimately emotional". Everybody came to this thing like, 'If Harry styles crushed me today with a stage dive, I'd be all in.

Nick, 32, told Hazza: 'I really love this song, it's one of my favourites. "Everything, workwise, that I'd done since I was 16 was made in a democracy".

The original Sign of the Times lyrics, which are actually pretty EXPLICIT.

'But be honest, and be open, and be vulnerable, is something I hope people take from it'.

Harry Styles has largely been praised by critics for his debut self-titled album, which was released on Friday. The guys of One Direction are no exception.
