The Los Angeles Lakers had the second pick in the draft and took UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball. TBN's own Zach Cronin touched on the specifics of how Philly got in the driver's seat, and all indications so far are suggesting they will draft University of Washington guard Markelle Fultz. Or try the Los Angeles Clippers who picked first, fourth, third and second from 1998-2001 and had just one first-round exit over that span until 2012.

National Basketball Association champion Golden State and Cleveland didn't have a pick in the two-round draft, though the Warriors acquired the rights to second-rounder Jordan Bell from Chicago.

What seemed highly unlikely up until last week became a reality Thursday night when the Sixers selected Fultz first overall with the pick they acquired from the Celtics.

So it wasn't a surprise that Colangelo was tight-lipped during a press conference at the team's practice facility in Camden Monday to announce the blockbuster deal between the Sixers and the Celtics that sends the rights to the Sixers pick at No. 3 as well as the rights to a future first-round selection to Boston for the No. 1 pick in the draft. Both teams are pretty stacked already and they don't need the help but their friendly rivalry (and LeBron's constant complaining) does make for good entertainment. It makes flawless sense - three points is greater than two points - if you can make those plays, of course. He needs to get better at the charity stripe, too, where he shot just 57 percent at Kansas. The Sixers gave up conditional future draft picks for Pasecniks, a 7-1 center, who could be stashed overseas and continue to develop before he is brought over. "And how is he gonna say something when he didn't watch me play?" "It happens nearly every year, so I wasn't shocked about it".

"Pay attention to my footwear", the Washington guard said. I think that's what really makes me special. The Lakers are also in the midst of a deep rebuild, and earlier this week agreed to trade D'Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov to the Brooklyn Nets for Brook Lopez and the 27th overall pick in Thursday's draft. If LaVar Ball wanted to "speak it into existence", in his oft-repeated phrasing, the Lakers drafted it into existence. "They said they love my dad and left it at that".

It was a day that was highlighted by trades with the Minnesota Timberwolves' aquisition of Bulls guard Jimmy Butler stealing much of the spotlight. Fox went for a season-high 39 points on 13-for-20 shooting compared to Ball's 10-point night in the Wildcats' 86-75 win in the Sweet 16.

Boston has the chance to pick Josh Jackson and create a power defending pair with Jaylen Brown.

Twelve of the first 14 picks, including Adebayo, were one-and-doners.

The New York Knicks used the no.8 pick on French guard Frank Ntilikina, while the Dallas Mavericks went with another guard in Dennis Smith Jr for the ninth overall selection.

Jackson has high star potential, but made for less than an exceptional fit.

"I think he's a flawless complement to Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons", Brown said. "It just shows you how this business is and like I said, I just go with the flow".
