LeBron, Cavs End Warriors Perfect Postseason Run In Game 4

Kevin Durant, SF, Golden State-The Warriors started the night just a win away from taking their second NBA Championship in three years, but a strong start by the Cavaliers made it look like Durant and Golden State would have to wait. After the game, LeBron revealed that the Warriors had once again supplied pregame bulletin board material, when his teammates overheard their premature plans for celebration.

Kyrie Irving said he was aware the Warriors wanted to finish a 16-0 romp through the postseason and celebrate a title on the Cavs' court, just as they did in 2015.

"It's part of the game, I understand that", he added.

Wait until they hear what Draymond Green - who drew a loud reaction when he was seemingly ejected (but actually wasn't) from the Cavaliers' Game 4 victory Friday - said in his latest interview. But Cleveland now faces a 3-1 deficit, the same one they overcame a year ago against a 73-win Warriors team. The previous highest-scoring quarter by one team in NBA Finals history was 47 by the L.A. Lakers against Boston in the third quarter on June 3, 1984).

But it's one they had to have, and a series that wasn't living up to its hype and seemed headed for a quick conclusion is California bound for Game 5 on Monday night.

The Cavs now have to go back to Oakland and play in what may be the toughest games of their careers. But at least they will now get a chance to win the series at home.

"You get down 3-0 and you're fighting and you're trying to get a win, you do whatever it takes", Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said.

And like that, after dreading this Finals series coming to a close with nothing but Warriors dominance to show for it, we suddenly have more basketball. and we're excited for it.

Unfortunately, this record-breaking performance will be overlooked. In addition, LeBron James became the NBA Finals king of triple-doubles.

The Warriors simply were overrun from the outset. Only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,317) and Mr. Logo himself, Jerry West (1,679), have scored more points in the Finals. James had 31 points, 11 rebou. Oh, and a Finals half record of 86. "So then I thought the second one Draymond was going to get kicked out, but they explained that the first one was on me". "Obviously, I can play better", said Stephen Curry (14 points, 4-of-13 shooting). "In the first quarter as a team we weren't able to establish ourselves". Following their first loss of the postseason, Kerr didn't feel the moment became too big for them. The Warriors didn't like how they responded to physicality and aggressiveness from Cleveland. Raising both his arms to egg on the home fans after getting his first shot in, James wore his heart on his sleeves throughout the game, even getting into a heated one-on-one exchange with Kevin Durant. Kevin Love added 23 points for the Cavs. Tristan Thompson awoke and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The lively Cleveland crowd ate this one up, finishing the night chanting, “Cavs in 7, Cavs in 7.”. Things were going Cleveland's way. We shared the ball, we moved the ball and defensively we were physical.

But they never got closer.

And all that was just in the third quarter. Jordan scored 1,176 points and connected on 1,463 free throws in six Finals. But at the end they were 24-of-45 on 3s (53.3 percent). They entered shooting 29.8 for the series.
