Texas Takeaways for 2018 After Georgia Special Election

Democrats need to replace Rep. Nancy Pelosi as House minority leader if they are going to win future elections, a Democratic lawmaker said Thursday.

However, for San Franciscan Pelosi and the Democrats to recapture the House, they would have to not only hold all of their seats next year but also win 24 of those now held by the majority Republicans. Democratic Rep. Kathleen Rice from NY told CNN that it's time for the Democrats to let her and the entire Democratic leadership team go.

Pelosi added that Republican opponents will always go after the other party's leaders - "and usually they go after the most effective leader".

Pelosi also responded to President Donald Trump's tweet that ousting her "would be very bad for the Republican Party".

"Say "no" to Pelosi's "yes" man", blared one ad from the Congressional Leadership Fund super PAC. Trump wrote, referring to Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Pelosi was a central figure in the millions of dollars in ads Republicans ran against Ossoff, even though Ossoff had never even committed to supporting Pelosi as Minority Leader. Most notably, Karen Handel won a Georgia Congressional seat against "dream" Democrat candidate Jon Ossoff.

"Ossoff's problem is that he didn't win the first round", Brian Fallon, senior adviser to Priorities USA, a Democratic super PAC, said in an interview. Since then, she has raised a whopping $570 million for the caucus.

"We're paving a way for a new generation of leadership, and I respect any opinion that my members have", she said.

Michael Owens leads the Cobb County Democrats and chaired a 6th District task force meant to coordinate the efforts of the party in Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb counties.

Entrenched career politician Nancy Pelosi is finally feeling the heat from an unlikely place - her own Party.

"I hope they keep Nancy for 10 more years".

Democrats lost another race in SC that same night, and that followed previous disappointments in Montana and Kansas. If elected, I will not vote for Nancy Pelosi for speaker. Meanwhile, Democrat Joe Cunningham from SC tweeted a campaign promise that he wouldn't vote for Pelosi to lead the Democrats in the House.

"I don't think members of our party should pick up the line of the Republicans", she said. The Republicans have "young guns and this new group of new faces, which people like to see in politics", he said, a group within which the 43-year old from Youngstown, Ohio might fit himself, were he not a Democrat.

Owens pushed back against national debate over whether Ossoff ran a too progressive campaign or a too moderate campaign.

As they have in the past, Republicans have mocked Pelosi's leadership.

They're not going to recognize the folly of their core principles, no matter how roundly they're rejected.
