The victor of that match will face either fourth-seeded Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas (25 homers) or fifth-seeded Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano (21 homers).

Aaron Judge becomes the first rookie to win the Home Run Derby after putting on an absurd display of power. "I enjoyed every minute of it", he added. Before the extra 30 seconds, Bellinger was only at 13 home runs but in the extra time, he hit two more to eclipse Blackmon to advance to the second round.

He didn't have an easy path to victory, though. Judge beat Miami's Justin Bour in a slugfest, 23-22.

During the second round, Gary Sanchez took on Minnesota Twin's Miguel Sono.

He traveled out west last summer just to take swings in the Home Run Derby, which turned out to be a pretty good move. Stanton is close with 26, which is tied with Reds first baseman Joey Votto in the National League.

If you were watching the 2017 Home Run Derby on TV you might have noticed an extra-large man snagging home runs over the outfield wall Monday at Marlins Park.

But Sano also appeared to be exhausted by the third round while struggling to produce double digit homers.

So Judge merely stepped back into the batter's box for one final swing before time ran expired.

With dozens of shots like those, it's safe to say that Judge, and this Home Run Derby as a whole, more than lived up to the hype.

Some of the best young players in all of baseball will compete Monday night in the 2017 MLB Home Run Derby. This time, he outslugged some of baseball's top stars, including local favorites Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Bour of the Miami Marlins.

Last night, the world saw a performance for the ages in the homerun derby by Aaron Judge, the latest in a long line of New York Yankees phenoms.

One of the highlights that didn't have to do with balls flying out of the stadium was Judge's colorful bat and socks.

"I was already nervous going in it", Judge said. Bellinger, the third seed, opposes sixth-seeded Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon (20 homers). His easy smile will allow him to downplay the moment, but when you look into his eyes, you will see how humbled he is by the situation he is in. But he hit just one in the 30-second bonus round.

The merits of the derby are especially clear when compared to the All-Star Game-which, for the first time in more than a decade, will not count for anything this year. "I would really like to get the back story".
