The dorsoscuro goldfinch (Carduelis psaltria hesperophila) is also called Dominican goldfinch green-backed goldfinch (US)


Measures 9 cm; the male is characterized by its black cap, greenish back, bright yellow lower parts and irregular white marks on the wing. The female lacks a cap, is more greenish and has a dark rump.
