The paradigm of housing has changed over the years, that well we all know. Several reasons have driven this change, but in the last decade, one of the causes that has influenced the most is the global crisis we have been facing for some time. It has strongly raised the price of rents while wages have fallen.

Faced with this, housing has had to reinvent itself and, as it could not be otherwise, it is the new generations that have taken the initiative which is no accident as it is a common concern among most young people.

Leaving aside the social, political and economic factor that drives this change, let us move to the main challenge again prototype: the square meters. And is that these minipisos or studies (as they are also called to circumvent legal issues of habitability) do not exceed 30 m2! What brings the need for good ideas, a great effort and an extra waste of imagination on the part of the architect or decorator.

The case of the reform that I bring today is located in Paris and realized by the study of Transition interior and for a 26 year old.

First, if the meters of your house are scarce, the first thing to do is to forget the conventional and organize the space in another way. If it is intended to fit a standard house in a study of 30 m2 surely the result will be depressing. The solution, therefore, is to change scale and mentality. Use resources that allow blurring the limits, squeeze the centimeters and invent atmospheres that stimulate. Basically, it is about combating the lack of space with open and flexible distributions, integrated and compact storage, and personal decorations and even scenery.

Another interesting feature is that of raising the bed on a platform, with that it is possible to incorporate extra storage which is very necessary in apartments of these characteristics. Although, when you live in a small space, you select a lot of what you need and what does not help you many times to simplify your life.

Kitchen, counter, TV and other artifacts have been grouped into one single wall and integrated into a single piece of furniture. In this way it is possible to create a kind of "rigid nucleus" that groups all those elements that sometimes condition the distribution of the environments releasing the rest of the surface to be used without restrictions.

As for the aspect decorative ideal is always work with white surfaces and add our personal imprint through textiles and accessories. In this case, life comes with ordinary rectangular tiles in the kitchen area and touches of color with ornaments, cushions and even furniture.

Finally, if your desire is to paint one of the walls with color, here is a sample that despite the m2 is also possible, it simply has to play with certain resources that make our decision the most successful. In this case, the wall of the "dormitory" is painted which receives direct light from the window. In addition, from the living room, we will always see this wall filtered by the white library. That is to say, to have in front of this furniture, we managed to qualify the perception of the color and in addition we make disappear the leftovers that the library would project on the wall, since to have a dark color they are lost and this makes that we can not perceive the closeness of the wall making it more difficult to size the space.
