How to Color Hair at Home Tutorial

I wanted to share this simple DIY hair dye because when I did my last hair video people had been asking what color I had on my hair. My hair was like a light brown / reddish color and I wanted to share how I do it. This is a natural method that I have used in the past and I love the results. What I use is so simple and natural. It's chemical-free, cruelty-free, and plant-based! And you will need veggies! So let's start with this DIY hair dye ...

Natural hair dye method for reddish hair ...
To add red tints to my hair I use beets and carrots . This natural hair dye can boost the color on redheads. If you have blonde hair then beet juice will create more of a strawberry blonde shade. Depending on what shade you want, you can use these veggies separately or together. For more reddish tone use more beet juice. Carrot juice alone will produce a subtle reddish orange.

The night before I wash my hair. When my hair is dry I apply a small amount of MOA Hair Oil. I got this as a gift from my sister for Christmas and ever since I love it! This oil helps to give shine and softness to your hair. If my hair is still wet I like applying MOA Spray Detangler which is also amazing. To both smells amazing but both smell different.

APPLY - Apply the hair dye

I begin by detangling my hair with my favorite hair brush. I like this brush because it never breaks my hair, it can be used on wet or dry hair, and it's also great for kids.

I have dark brown hair so I apply about one cup of beet and carrot juice I also add about 1 tbsp of coconut oil to condition my hair at the same time. Before you apply this natural hair dye just make sure to wear something to protect your skin and clothes from any stains. I apply this natural hair dye all over my hair and I put on a plastic cap so that the natural juice will penetrate more. This can be left on the hair from one hour to four hours or better yet, leave it on overnight and rinse your hair in the morning. I usually leave it on for an hour and then rinse my hair as I usually do. To seal the color use an apple cider vinegar spray.

FINISH - Natural red hair color - After application and rinsing my hair I dry my hair with my Elchim 3900 Hair Dryer. After one application I can already see the difference but the color will be noticeable after a few more applications of this natural hair dye. It all depends on the shade that you are going for. With this natural hair dye mixture you can use it as often as you like to reach your desired color. I like repeating this process every few weeks.

That's all for this simple natural hair dye tutorial. If you ever get to color your hair at home let me know how it goes! Will you try this or used a similar method? Let me know! Thanks for reading and until next time! Watch the video below: _ _ _ _ DIY Hair Dye!

PROCESS - Prepares the hair dye

The night before I wash my hair. When my hair is dry I apply a small amount of MOA Hair Oil. This I received as a gift from my sister for Christmas and since then I love it! This oil helps to give shine and soften the hair. If my hair is still wet I like to apply Detangling Spray MOA which is also great. For me the two smell very rich but both smell different.

For starters I start with a beetroot and two to three carrots. I use Breville Compact Juice Extractor to extract the pure juice from these two vegetables. This will make as two cups of natural hair dye. If in case you do not have a juice extractor you can use a blender. I use Vitamix TurboBlend VS Blender which is great for high speed options. With the juice extractor the consistency of the hair dye will be liquid and the blender will leave the fiber of the vegetables together with the hair dye. If in case you want to get rid of the vegetable fiber you can use a bag of walnut / rice milk. This will help to squeeze the juice as if you were using a juice extractor. I like to keep my hair dye in glass jars.

APPLICATION - Apply the hair dye

I begin by untangling my hair with my favorite brush. I like this brush because it never breaks my hair and can be used in wet or dry hair and is also perfect for children.

FINISH - Natural red hair color

After applying and rinsing my hair I dry my hair with my Elchim 3900 Hair Dryer. After an application I can already see the difference but the color will look more after applying this natural hair dye. It all depends on the tone you want. With this natural hair dye you can use it as many times as you like until you reach the desired color. I like to repeat this process every few weeks.
