Materials

  • An old tea cup
  • A piece of cloth, approximately 11 x 12 cms
  • A rubber band

Step 1

Stretch the piece of cloth on a flat surface, mouth down. Put a handful of wadding on the top, as centered as possible.

Step 2

Round the ends of the fabric and stick with the rubber. The result should be a ball, knotted with the rubber.

Step 3

You must place the end of the ball inside the cup, thus leaving the rubber and the excess fabric hidden inside the cup. The fabric of the ball should be slightly larger than the opening of the container.

Step 4

It's time to take a little care. Your tissue may have a couple of wrinkles around the edges, so take a finger and lightly crush it, to soften the wrinkles. You probably will not be able to get a perfectly flat ball, just get rid of the larger wrinkles. Step 5

Peg the ball into the tea cup, using a few drops of hot glue between the cup and the fabric, repeat this every inch or less to hold the ball safely in the cup.

And this is our tutorial today! I was not joking when I said it was easy and very economical, since we used materials we had at home. This is for me, but it could be a good detail to give away to my most astute friends. Teacups are adorable and easy to find in thrift stores, and you know that from a patch of leftover fabric you can get something nice.

I think this would also be good as part of a " my first sewing kit "for someone who wants to learn.
