    , food and shelter. The objective of this study was to document the ornithological community in grassland ecosystems in the Cauto's basin. The study was conducted in four units of livestock production, representing different ecosystems in regard to soil type, productive purpose, etc. Sampling was conducted during the years 2013 and 2014, between 06:00 and 12:00 h. Bird inventory was done through direct observation using the linear transects method. We recorded 27 species from 18 families and 8 orders. Passeriformes were the most represented involving six families and ten species. Three species were Cuban endemics: Teretistris fornsi, Tiaris canorus and Dives atroviolaceus.
